Gen Con 2013 was full of regret, for the people I didn’t get to meet; full of joy, for the simple acts of kindness and generosity. Gen Con 2013 was full of work, with all my free time eaten up; full of play, when free time actually was free. It was an amazing show, and one that I nearly didn’t attend. Luckily, things feel together not exactly at the last minute, so there I was, in Indianapolis with the best weather I’ve experienced for the convention.
Last week, I took a little bit of time to do some layout doodling. This time, the inspiration comes from the Pacific Rim movie and looking at other people’s InDesign and Photoshop files.
This year at Gen Con, I’ll be working with Pulp Gamer, who are doing video coverage of Gen Con for Mayfair Games. We’ll be there covering the Catan North American Championship on Sunday and the totally free block party on Thursday evening (over on Georgia Street, where the food trucks are). In previous years, I post lists of stuff to get. This year, my list isn’t quite as extensive.
