Fantasy Flight Games just announced that Genesys, the generic version of the game system that runs their Star Wars and upcoming Legend of the Five Rings roleplaying games, is available as a pdf. I’m interested in that game because I love some of the things it does (I’ve gone on about how the boost and setback dice are some of my favorite dice in rpgs) and one of the example settings is Android, the cyberpunk setting for the Android board game (which I love), the Netrunner game line, and pretty much all of FFG’s near-future cyberpunk games.

But then I noticed it did something really interesting with the cross-references.

Thomas Was At Gen Con 2017: It Really Happened

Back from Gen Con and it was amazing. I’ve been to the show a few times before, mainly as a way to network — which is nearly impossible at the show for people new to the industry — and as part of a company. Now that I have several works published (and was there as a part of a company’s booth staff), network is so much easier.

#RPGaDAY 2017, Day 10: An Unexpected Gaming Experience

Today’s #RPGaDAY topic is “An Unexpected Gaming Experience”. This is actually last year’s Day 10 topic, or rather, it was my take on Day 10’s topic, which was “Largest In-Game Surprise Experienced”, which wasn’t all that interesting to me back then. This year it’s supposed to be “Where Do You Find RPG Reviews”, which is also… meh.

A different unexpected gaming experience than last year: it was the last time I was at Gen Con, I believe. I had moved away from Maine, not thinking that I’d see those people again in the flesh except for rare occasions, and I get a message: our friend Derek suddenly got the weekend off, so he came up from Arizona and would I like to play Call of Cthulhu with him?
