#RPGaDAY 2017, Day 30: A Game Everyone Else Likes

I know, this day’s #RPGaDAY question is supposed to be about a genre-mashup, but it seems that there’s been a few questions that touch on that and I’d rather talk about Marvel Super Heroes RPG, the first of the superhero roleplaying games that used the Marvel Comics IP.

Whenever I see this game system mentioned, people reflect on it with a sense nostalgia that I never had. I’d be willing to say that you’re thinking about good ol’ FASERIP now with a smile slowly spreading across your face. But for me, this was the game where I learned an important Truth in Gaming: dice tell crappy stories.

#RPGaDAY 2017, Day 19: Best Writing a/k/a How the Sausage Is Made

The #RPGaDAY prompt for the 19th was “Which RPG features the best writing?”

Hey. You. I’m going to tell how the sausage is made. Let’s look at any 7th Sea sourcebook. Read through all 208 pages of that thing, every chapter, every sidebar, and yes, even the fiction in the front. See how well that thing flows? See how well that runs together? It’s like there’s one voice telling you all about this bit of the setting and explaining these rules to you, right?

#RPGaDAY 2017, Day 6: Constant Gaming

The #RPGaDAY prompt for today — er, yesterday — is “You can game every day for a week. Describe what you’d do!”

Nah. That’s not as interesting as how I initially misread the topic: “You can game every day in a week!” Let’s answer that question.

The base assumption is I get to play roleplaying games every single day! We’ll just pretend there’s some magic time thing that happened that lets me get my work done and I still get time to have fun with the family. And I have time to do GM prep…
